Adios Alaska

Good byes are always so hard.  I'm sure it's more of a hui hou...

Farewell friend...

Vios con dios view...

Until next time unexpected moose attack...

Good bye glacier...

Later landfill...

Ciao cabin...

As I was finishing up my final packing, mama and baby moose came by to wish me well... it felt quite auspicious and I was able to leave with only a tear or two...

On my drive south I passed underneath the most magnificent double rainbow I've ever seen.  It spread across the entire sky and had such a visceral quality to it that I knew if I reached out my car window I could touch it.  My whole trip and the beginning of my fresh start has been blessed.

Best wishes Blog....................

2016: An Alaska Odyssey

And the trip north begins.  They don't call it "Beautiful British Columbia" for nothing!

Nor do they call Alaska "Land of the Midnight Sun" for nothing... I have arrived in the last frontier at 11:37 PM...

Now on to June Creek...

The cabin still stands! And not only was my truck still there, the earth was attempting to reclaim it... Alaska would not win THIS time though...

My neighbor Bob needed a truck for his daughter, and with a little love, elbow grease and fluids the old gal coughed to life and was purring like a kitten in a matter of minutes!  I'm glad she'll be back in action again.  Each neighbor that drove by my place the first day back inquired about the truck... they all had been eyeing it over the years and wanted to buy it:)  Who knew she was such a catch?

How about the rest of the property?

Those cottonwood trees grew FAST!  I guess that's why the moose love to eat them.

Now for the moment of truth... the inside...

It was truly a Time Capsule Cabin!  Traveling back to 2013 was quite surreal. Everything was pretty much as a left it besides a little water damage on a picture or two and some slight vole gnawing on the Click-Clack.  No liquids exploded from extreme cold, and most importantly... the doors remained closed!

Now the work begins of cleaning it all up and putting it up for sale.  Yes, the time has come for fresh beginnings!

The moose have even given their blessings...

Though... with nice days like this... I'm having some second thoughts...

Eh... I guess it's only SOME second thoughts...

The cold and rain and bugs haven't made it easy getting the place in order... however I did find one thing that helps...

BZZZAP... CRACKLE... POP!
